We have been brought, by God’s grace, to repent of our sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins, and as we have been baptized upon the confession of our faith in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we now joyfully and seriously enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. By God’s grace:
We will submit to the authority of the Bible as the final word on all matters of life and doctrine. We will seek to love one another as Jesus Christ has loved us and commanded us to love one another. We will serve one another as Jesus Christ modeled for us. We will seek to use and cultivate our spiritual gifts as God has seen fit to give to each of us. We will work to be at peace with one another and have unity as one body in Christ. We will strive to speak to one another graciously. We will seek to put other’s needs before our own and be hospitable with one another. We will seek to edify and encourage one another when we gather together. We will seek to exhort one another to love and good works. We will rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep, helping to carry each other’s burdens. We will seek to pray for one another often.
We will work together for the continuance of a faithful, Christ-exalting ministry in the First Baptist Church of Corry by supporting and upholding the preaching of the Bible, attending our corporate worship, celebrating the ordinance of baptism, participating in communion, exercising church discipline, and guarding biblical doctrine. We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout all nations.
We will seek to please God by resisting sin and pursuing personal holiness. We will strive to spend time reading our Bibles and in private prayer. We will lay aside every weight and sin so that we can run with endurance the race that is set before us. We will seek to fulfill the roles to which God has called us in our families. We will raise our children and youth in the training and instruction of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example we will seek the salvation of our family and friends. We will proclaim the gospel, through our words and our actions, in our homes, neighborhoods, and to the ends of the earth in whatever way the Lord enables us.
May the love of God, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us, as we seek to live out this covenant.
